Why choose Odoo over Sage?

Choose Odoo over Sage when you need one system for the whole company rather than accounting plus add-ons. Odoo runs CRM, sales, inventory, manufacturing, HR and accounting on a single PostgreSQL database, so records move between apps without connectors or sync jobs. Sage sells those capabilities as separate products Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 200, Sage 300, Sage X3 and Sage Intacct each licensed and priced on its own, with Sage CRM and Sage HR purchased separately again. Odoo is also open source: the Community edition is free and every app's source code can be extended by an Odoo partner or an in-house developer. Sage publishes no open-source edition, so customisation happens inside a closed, vendor-controlled roadmap.

Odoo Enterprise
Power Your Business Drive Growth

Odoo Enterprise adds a licence fee and unlocks full accounting, studio-level customisation, mobile apps and version upgrades. Both run on Odoo Online, on Odoo.sh, or on your own servers. Around 40 official apps are maintained by Odoo S.A., with thousands more from a partner network of 2,550+ implementers and the Odoo Community Association

Sage
Accounting First ERP for SMEs

Sage is a portfolio, not a single product. The Sage Group plc was founded in 1981 in Newcastle upon Tyne and trades on the FTSE 100 as LSE: SGE, with offices in 23 countries. Its range runs from Sage 50, a desktop bookkeeping package, through Sage 100 and Sage 200 for smaller mid-market firms, Sage 300 for multi-entity and multi-currency work, Sage X3 for manufacturing, and Sage Intacct for cloud financial management. Each is licensed separately; CRM, payroll and HR are separate products again. Sage 100 supports multi-company and multi-currency working, but its strength is finance, not end-to-end operations.
