Esko Integration with Odoo

Odoo is integrated with Esko to make the flag-making process easier.

Odoo v17 / v19
Esko integration with Odoo

The structure of Esko folders is given below. The folder named “Esko” is created in the home directory. Each folder created inside Esko is used for a different process in the Esko integration.

Esko

Folder-based design and production workflow

PDF

For configurable products, we have the option to attach design files.

By clicking this icon, we can upload the design files.

Attach the design file to make the flag. This file is stored inside the PDF folder.

UpdateXML

By clicking the “Plan” button, an XML file is created inside the “Update XML” folder, containing details about the attributes of the configurable product.

This is a sample of the XML file created inside the “Update XML” folder.

Production Batch

Batch-based manufacturing order processing

Esko groups the manufacturing orders into specific batches to reduce material wastage. Based on these batches, subfolders are created with the batch names inside the BatchXML folder, and Esko places the XML files containing details about each manufacturing order inside these subfolders.

Fields Used for the Production Batch

  • Is Parent: This field is used to indicate whether the manufacturing order is a parent or a child. If it is true, it denotes a parent manufacturing order; if it is false, it denotes a child MO created from another MO.
  • Production Batch: Denotes the name of the batch.
  • Quantity: Specifies the total quantity and how many quantities are processed in that batch.

Here, we can see the XML files.

Upon the execution of the “Allocate Production Batch” scheduled action, the batch is assigned to the corresponding manufacturing order.

The sample XML file is given below. It specifies the batch name, MO name, and if any child MOs need to be created for that MO, it will be specified in the “copies” field. For example, if copies = 2, it will create a child MO for the parent MO. The “quantities” field specifies the number of quantities processed in that batch.

After executing this scheduled action, the values are updated in the MO.

Production Batch Model

Production Batch is a new model created for processing batches. Here, we can see all the batches that have been created.

While opening the batch, we can see the manufacturing order assigned to it.

Clicking the “Production Order Report” button is used to print the production order report. Clicking the “Process Work Order” button will update the state of the printing operations to “Finished” for the manufacturing order assigned to that batch.

Conclusion

The Esko Integration with Odoo simplifies the flag-manufacturing workflow by connecting design file management, XML-driven configuration, and production batching within a single system. Design files are attached and stored automatically, product attributes are exchanged through XML, and manufacturing orders are grouped into production batches to reduce material wastage. Together, these capabilities help streamline production planning, cut down manual effort, and keep manufacturing orders synchronized between Esko and Odoo.
