In this blog, we introduce a new feature where employees are rewarded for successful referrals, a key incentive in modern recruitment strategies. To implement this, we utilize the enhanced Referral module in Odoo 18. The Odoo 18 Referral module offers a streamlined and interactive way for employees to participate in the hiring process by recommending candidates from their personal or professional networks. The module features an intuitive interface that gamifies referrals with badges, points, and rewards, making it engaging and easy to use.
In this dashboard, users can easily track and manage the entire referral process. It provides a clear overview of all referrals, including new submissions, ongoing referrals that are still in progress, and those that have been successfully completed. This helps HR teams and managers monitor the effectiveness of employee referrals and take appropriate actions based on the current status of each referral.
To implement employee referral rewards in
Odoo 18, the first step is to create a job position. If a job position already exists, you can skip this step. To create a new one, open the
Recruitment module and click on the "
New" button as shown. Enter the job title and other necessary details, then click the "
Create" button. This process allows you to define the specific role for which employee referrals will be accepted and linked to the referral program.
After creating the job position, open it to view various stages of the recruitment process. You will also find the Edit option under the toggle button.
By clicking Edit, you can assign referral points to the job position, which will be rewarded to the employee when their referral is successful. Additionally, you can set the Hired Stage, which determines the final stage considered as a successful hire. Enabling this option will ensure that the job position and its progress are reflected in the Referral module. You also have the option to assign different point values to each recruitment stage, allowing for a more flexible and rewarding referral process.
When you click the 'View Job' button on the dashboard, you will see all the published job positions.
After clicking the "View Job" button on the dashboard, you can see all created jobs and various sharing options. Use the "Copy Link" button, highlighted in red, to easily share the job post.
Copy the link by clicking the button and share it with the referral candidate. The candidate can apply using that link. For more details, refer to the image provided below.
To apply for a job through the referral platform, simply click the "Apply Now" button available on the job detail page.
Fill out the form and click the button to apply for the job.
Once a candidate applies for a job through your referral link, you can view their application under the "New" state in the Recruitment module, specifically under Job Applications. As the recruitment process progresses, and the application is moved to the next stage, referral points will be added to your account accordingly. This allows you to track the impact of your referrals and accumulate points based on the progress and success of the candidates you refer.
You can see the referral points in the list. To view your total points on the dashboard, click on 'Referrals'.
Finally, when the referred candidate is hired, all the referral points associated with the different stages of the application process will be added to your account. You can view the total accumulated points in your dashboard under the Referrals section. This reflects the successful completion of your referral and rewards you for bringing valuable talent to the organization and you can see the hired badge.
You can view the referred person on your dashboard, along with all the referral points that have been added to your total points balance.
