A package is a container in which you put one or several products from a picking. In Odoo, you have the possibility to deliver your products in different packages, depending on the volume and or weight of your products.
Basically, there are 3 types of product packaging:
1. Create a pack for a particular product (Eg: Pack of 10 Pens)
The packaging is the physical container that protects your product. In Odoo, the packaging is used for indicative purposes on sale orders. They can be specified on the product form, in the inventory tab.
In Inventory configuration settings, enable 'Product Packagings' to manage product packaging.
2. Create a pack containing multiple products(Eg: 5 Chair,1Table)
A package is a physical container in which you put one or several products from a picking. When you deliver a product, you can decide to separate the quantity into different packages. To separate a delivery into different packages you will have to set the done quantity to the desired package quantity then click on “PUT IN PACK”, do this for each package.
In Inventory configuration settings enable the 'Packages' option to put your products in packs and track them
3. Delivery Package
Create delivery packages providing details like the carrier, package type, height, weight, width, and package code.
