Odoo Tours
Testing is important for every application. Odoo provides different ways for testing a software, such as a python unit tests, javascript tests using Qunit test suite and more. Tours are yet another testing method used in Odoo. In fact, tours can also be used for demonstration purposes. Here we will discuss, how one can use Odoo tours for demonstration purpose.
Tours for demonstration purposes
The tour is a step by step procedure, explaining how to use Odoo or in other words, it explains the steps to be followed while using Odoo application. This would turn really helpful for a new user, who isn’t familiar with Odoo. In each step, Odoo will provide a short description about the same, explaining what ultimately is the purpose of following this particular step.
For example, a sale tour in Odoo will provide a step by step explanation on how to record a sales in Odoo. Odoo ERP comes with tours for almost all it’s main modules including sales, CRM, accounting, purchase, inventory, pos, etc. For running the tours from the user interface, you have to follow some steps. First, activate the developer mode. For this, sign into your Odoo and go to setting page. Activate developer mode from the right bottom of the page.
- Once you have activated the developer mode, you can see a new icon, right next to the chat box in the top right of the page.
- This menu will open the developer tools. Select the option to start the tour from the list. Which eventually open a wizard with all the existing tours.
- From this list, we can run the tours. During each step of the tour, there will be a tooltip which will show the content of the step, when we hover the mouse over it.
- Once we have started the tour, it will automatically go through each step we have to follow while using Odoo. It is also possible to create custom tours according to our needs.
