Issue Tracking On Odoo

Project management is a complex process which often involves multiple processes running parallel and multi-level officers controlling the process simultaneously. Problems and Issues are frequent in any complex project management. Every organization must have a systematic procedure to address such unexpected or expected problems. In ERP based project management, issue/problem management is also systematic. 
Odoo project management system provides a highly systematic method to manage issues/problems.  Odoo provides “issue Tracking” module in this regard. We can enable issue tracking feature in Odoo by installing “Issue Tracking” module from Odoo apps.

Issue Tracking module manages issues that we might face in projects; like bugs and errors in a system, client complaints or material breakdowns etc. Issue tracking allows the project manager to deploy any person to work on the reported issues and track its developments.

Create an Issue
Go to Project >Search > Issue > Create


Provide the issue summary, assign the issue to an employee to solve and set the priority of the issue. Fill other necessary fields and save the issue.

Any issue that we created will automatically take the chosen projects workflow.  If we don’t select a project, a default stage will be assigned to the issue. 

Once the issue is assigned to an employee, the same will be notified to the corresponding employee panel by Odoo. The assigned employee can change the status of the issue according to the work progress.  The status of a scheduled issue can be viewed as Kanban view from Project ->Search -> Issue


The admin or concerned person can edit the issue from this window also.  Simply drag and drop to change the state of the issue according to the progress of the work. 

Issue tracking can be used coupled with customer portal. If the issue is created by the customer, then he can view the progress of the issue from the customer portal. I fact, Odoo provides a highly user-oriented issue tracking mechanism.
