In today’s digital learning platform, interaction is an essential factor. Forums are now a crucial component of online learning, whether it is for peers to share information, instructors to share ideas, or students to ask questions. However, the E-learning module of Odoo 18 has a built-in forum capability that allows you to create an interactive and engaging learning environment. It’s also easier to configure than you may expect. Here is a comprehensive explanation on creating a forum in Odoo 18 E-learning.
Firstly, select the eLearning module from the Odoo 18 dashboard.

To enable the Forum feature, navigate to the Configuration > Settings, and enable the Forum feature as shown below:

To create a new forum, navigate to the Forum option and select Forums. Then click on the New button as shown below:

Add the following details:
* Forum Name: Add an appropriate name for your forum.
* Mode: Here, you can select either Questions (you can choose only one answer) or Discussions ( you can select multiple answers).
* Website: If you leave the website option blank, it will be available on all websites.
Under the Options tab, you can select Default Sort as Newest, Last Updated, Most Voted, Relevance, or Answered. In the Privacy option, you can choose as Public (visible to everyone), Signed In (only signed-in users can view), or Some users (only the specified group can view).

Karma Gains is a system of rewards based on points. Karma points are awarded to users depending on their forum behaviour, including asking a question, a question upvoted, a question downvoted, an answer upvoted, an answer downvoted, etc. You earn two points when you post a question. If someone voted for your question, you will get five points; that’s how to gain karma points. These points are in default values. If you want to change these default values, go to Configuration > Settings > Forum, and there you can adjust the forum points. Karma points help to boost engagement, filter high-quality content, and encourage active community participation.

Karma-related rights are permissions that determine what users can and cannot do based on their karma points. A user can access more forum features as they collect more karma points through beneficial participation, such as asking and answering questions or receiving upvotes.

Then save the newly created forum, click on the Go To Website as shown below:

On the forum’s website, click on the Start by creating a Post to create a new post as shown below:

Here, you can add a title for your post and a description. You can also add appropriate tags for your post and click on the Post Your Question button as shown below:

A new pop-up screen appeared, which shows the chances of getting answers for your created post. You can even share it on LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook, and other platforms.

Here, your question is posted. If you have any answers to your question, they will appear on the screen as shown below, and you can reply to them by clicking the Reply button. You can also have Edit, Close, Delete, Flag, and Create Ticket options available.

Then click on the Reply button, a new pop-up screen will appear, where you can add your reply and click on Post Answer as shown below:

When you add an answer to the question, you will receive additional karma points if your answer is selected as correct. Here, you can view all the answers related to that specific question.

Then go back to the Forum > Forums, there you can see the newly created forum.

Go to the Forum > Posts, and you can view the newly created post here.
