How to Manage Rental Transfers in Odoo 18

Rental transfers in Odoo 18 simplify the process of sending and receiving rented goods movements connected to rental orders. This function guarantees correctness and transparency. From a single interface, users can plan pickups, check delivery and return information, and track transfer statuses. Through the tracking of rental items from warehouse dispatch to customer return, the rental transfer workflow leads to increased operational efficiency and improved customer satisfaction.

Select the Rental module from the Odoo 18 dashboard.

Enable Rental Transfers:

To enable rental transfers, navigate to the Configuration > Settings. Then enable Rental Transfers and click on the Save button as shown below:

Create a New Rental Order:

To create a new order, go to the Orders > Orders, and click on the New button as shown below:

Select a customer from the list, where the customer’s address will be automatically added. You can also select a Quotation Template from the list. Add the Rental period and Payment Terms. Under the Order Lines tab, add a Product for the rental order and mention its quantity. Then click on the Send by Email button as shown below:

A pop-up screen will appear, showing the details of the email. Then click on the Send button as shown below:

Then confirm the rental order by clicking on the Confirm button as shown below:

Manage Pickup:

Here, you can see that the rental order is in the Sales Order stage. When the product is ready for delivery, click on the Pickup button as shown below:

A pop-up screen will appear, showing the name of the product and its quantity. Then click on the Validate button as shown below:

Here, you can see that the rental order is in the Picked-up stage. Then click on the Create Invoice button to create an invoice as shown below:

A pop-up screen will appear, allowing you to view the various types of invoice methods. Then click on the Create Draft button as shown below:

Here, you can see the customer invoice details. To confirm the invoices, click on the Confirm button as shown below:

Here, you can see that the customer invoice is in the Posted stage. Then click on the Pay button as shown below:

A pop-up screen will appear, displaying the payment details. Then click on the Create Payment button as shown below:

Manage Return:

When the rental period is complete, we need to return the rental product. Move back to the rental order and click on the Return button as shown below:

A pop-up window will appear to validate the return. Click on the Validate button as shown below:

Here, you can see that the order is in the Returned stage.
