Data cleaning is the process of preparing or shaping data in your system by eliminating
or altering unnecessary, inaccurate, redundant, irrelevant, or badly designed data.
Your organization does not require the data being described. Data cleaning is an
essential tool for a commercial firm to adequately clean its data. How well the
data is cleansed determines whether a project succeeds or fails.
Manually looking for duplicates and eliminating pointless files will take time.
An automated system is important to effectively remove unneeded files and data.
The Odoo ERP Data Cleaning program is a fantastic remedy for these problems.
With the help of the data cleaning module, you can easily find duplicates in any
type of data, including field data, customer contact information, customer details,
and many other components.
This chapter will cover the full Odoo 18 data cleansing module.
By using the Odoo18 Data Cleaning application, your company can make sure that the
data cleaning process is straightforward. Additionally, the module can be combined
with other modules such as Document, Contacts, Customer Relationship Management,
and Human Resource Management due to its high degree of interaction.
By heading to Odoo Apps, you may install the Data Cleaning module on your database
and start it up. The menu icon, shown in the screenshot below, will appear after
installation. By clicking on the menu icon, you can now access the module.

The Dashboard window shows the list of duplicate papers in a visible manner. Each
copy will have a description on the right side of the window, while the Rules will
be shown on the left. Using Rules, Odoo18 allows you to define the parameters used
to find duplicate documents. The Rules can be set up using the configuration options.
If you want to configure Rules, click the Configuration tab. To configure rules,
you can view a dropdown menu with two submenus on the Configuration tab, as shown
in the image below.
The module allows you to establish the rules for data cleansing in three different
ways. Those are
- Deduplication
- Recycle Records
- Field Cleaning
Deduplication, Recycling, and Field Cleaning are the three primary data cleansing
techniques available in the Odoo Data Cleaning module. Finding and eliminating duplicate
entries is the main goal of deduplication. By preserving or removing old records,
recycling aids in their management. By cleansing particular fields, field cleaning
enables data standardization.
