Journals are crucial documents that include crucial information about a company's transactions based on the date the transaction was completed. Detailed information is displayed, including account names, dates, amounts, and even whether the transaction was recorded as a credit or debit.
With Odoo18 Accounting, you may browse pre-configured journals suitable for almost any industry. The software also allows you to define new journals as needed. To present comparable sorts of transactions in a single journal, the Odoo18 platform offers five different journal formats. When we list the five journal kinds in Odoo18, they can be arranged as follows.
- Sales
- Purchase
- Bank
- Cash
- Credit Card
- Miscellaneous.
Sales Journal
The sales journal type records each and every transaction pertaining to sales. With the Odoo 18 platform, you may create different sales journals based on your requirements. For example, if you need to, you can record transaction details for wholesale and retail sales separately. This is where the customer invoices and refunds will be kept.
Purchase Journal
Use the Purchase journal record to gather all purchase-related transactions. Similar to sales journals, several journals for purchase can be created to publish received vendor bills and its refunds.
Bank Journal
Every bank transaction is meticulously documented in the Bank Journal. By uploading your bank statements, you may effectively monitor vendor and customer bank payments as well as any other transaction that is recorded by your linked bank account.
Cash Journal
All cash transactions can now be recorded in a cash journal. Daily cash transactions, petty cash transactions, and information regarding customer cash payments can all be tracked in this kind of diary.
Credit Card Journal
It is now possible to keep a credit card journal with all credit card transactions. This type of journal allows for the tracking of all consumer and vendor credit card payment details.
Miscellaneous Journal
The Miscellaneous journal, the journal's last type, is great for documenting transactions that aren't covered by the four journals we've just mentioned earlier: Cash, Purchase, Bank, and Sales. Inventory value, inventory adjustments, exchange difference, opening balance, and many other entries that don't fall under one of the other four journal kinds can be considered by the journal type. It is quite straightforward to post a journal-style entry, even for a salary or all of your corrections. The Miscellaneous journals don't have any advanced settings.
For convenience, any of these five journal types can have a sequence number assigned on the Odoo18 platform.
